The PSA Alphapharm Pharmacy Student of the Year award recognises outstanding pharmacy students by showcasing their counselling skills to the pharmacy profession. If you are an Australian pharmacy student expecting to graduate in 2010 you are eligible to enter the competition. The PSA Alphapharm Pharmacy Student of the Year award provides you with the opportunity to implement your counselling skills using real life pharmacy scenarios. Competing against your peers, you will be able to demonstrate your pharmacy knowledge and gain invaluable practical experience that you can refer to when you commence your pharmacy career.

To enter the competition contact your local PSA Branch for details or your local Pharmacy school.  If you become the state winner you will received a funded trip to compete in the national final at PAC in Melbourne from 28 - 31 October 2010.

As the 2010 PSA Alphapharm Pharmacy Student of the Year you will receive the Alphapharm National Travel Prize of an expenses paid trip to the International Pharmacy Student Federation Congress in Thailand in August 2011.

PSA Conferences

PAC 2010 - Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, 28 - 31 October 2010

 

 

 

 

 

PAC 2010 will be held at the purpose built Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.  This spectacular venue will facilitate displays and ensure sessions are held in the best possible environment where national and international speakers will speak to the theme of Star Performance - the future for pharmacy.

The theme is based on the World Health Organisation's Seven Star Pharmacist principle which will be examined and discussed during PAC.

PAC 2010 will continue the Congress's rich tradition of providing a topical and comprehensive program covering a wide range of educational, business and practice subjects which will increase delegates' specific knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviours in support of their expanding roles as pivotal progessionals in the multi-disciplinary health care model towards which Australia is rapidly moving.

PAC 2010 associated events will include a PSA Consultant Pharmacist program, an Industry Forum and the PSA National Forum to name but a few highlights of the program.

The 2011 Offshore Refresher Conference will be held in Venice and Salzburg. The city of Venice is simply stunning, unique and is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Founded more than 1,500 years ago on 117 different islands, Venice is linked by a series of over 150 canals, 400 bridges and many ancient pavements.

En-route to Salzburg delegates make a stop at Lake Bled, at the foot of the Julien Alps in Slovenia. With immense natural beauty, led, together with its surroundings, ranks among the most beautiful alpine resorts, renowned for its mild, healing climate and thermal lake water.

Salzburg's magnificent Baroque town centre is rated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and can easily be explored by foot. The city's most famous son Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the heart-warming musical 'The Sound of Music' created the area's fame and popularity with music enthusiasts all over the world.

Two pre conference tours are available. The first includes two nights in Milan and two nights in Verona. A lunch stop is planned at Lake Garda en route to Verona. The second pre conference tour includes one night in Orvieto, north of Rome, before travelling to Florence for three nights.

The post conference option is three nights in the Imperial city of Vienna, with a seven night extended post conference Danube River cruise to the Black Sea. This exciting cruise on Europe's most beautiful river takes in seven European countries - Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania.

The Australasian Conference for Compounding Pharmacists (ACCP), the first compounding specific conference in Australia open to all pharmacists in the country, will be held at the Swissotel in Sydney on the 11th-12th September. The website is now live visit www.accp.net.au

The 2 day event combines a free exhibition with a high quality conference program educating current and prospective compounders on current trends, practices and techniques in the industry.  A list of speakers (both international and domestic) will be announced very shortly! And the conference program will be finalised and released shortly also. For now you can see a list of topics that will be covered on the event website.

At the Drug Safety Conference, the PPAHK is also launching the the 1st Global Drug Safety Day with the aim of raising awareness of people around the world on the importance of making better and safer use of drugs.  Information is available for download here.

Cold Chain Management 2010


With health-care reform high on the agenda in Australia, there has never been a better time to increase the efficiency of your cold chain. Pharmaceutical companies are always looking for new solutions to help maintain the cold chain; however the cost of this increasingly intelligent technology can be very prohibitive. The regulatory and legislative environment also remains unclear to most of the industry.

Cold Chain Management 2010, being held in Sydney from 26 - 27 October, 2010,   will bring together pharmaceutical professionals, in-vitro and animal health specialists to discuss strategies and practical aspects of cold chain management. More details here.


2010 AGPN National Forum - 3 - 6 November 2010, Perth

The Australian General Practice Network (AGPN) National Forum, Connecting Care, is being built around the proposed reforms, and the people who will lead and drive change. The design of the Forum program will mirror the reform agenda and thereby encompass the full scope of the primary health care sector.  At this seminal time for all those who may be impacted by the proposed changes, the Forum is the place to be if you want to engage with debate and discussion about the future as it happens.
